Don Brandes is a nationally recognized land planner and landscape architect.  As president of Design Studios West since it’s founding in 1981, Don actively leads DSW’s multi-disciplinary projects.  He remains responsible for project initiation, programming, planning and final design review. Don is an author of several professional articles and publications.  His book, “Developing Difficult Sites, Solutions for Builders and Developers”, was published by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and continues to be a national reference for the Council of Landscape Architectural Review Board (CLARB) exam.  Don has chaired the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Developing Master-Planned Communities Conference and has been a featured speaker at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) and several other national conferences for NAHB.  As a registered landscape architect, Don is a recipient of several national and state planning and design awards. Don holds a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture and a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado . In addition to his professional experience, Don is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the ULI Small-Scale Development Council and serves on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Denver Partnership, Inc.
